A giant CONGRATS to my aunt and uncle as they’re celebrating 40 years of marriage. I traveled up to Monroe, Wisconsin for their surprise 40th anniversary party over the past weekend. The party was great: sharing such a momentous occasion with my aunt and uncle; getting to see family I hadn’t seen in a long time (many years for some); and the surprise was a success, leading to a lot of happy-crying from my aunt.
Aside from the party, I learned a few things from this trip:
1) Driving for six hours with only flat cornfields as scenery is boring.
2) The difference between a knicknack and an antique. A knicknack is any new item that 99.9% of people will think is stupid, useless, and ugly; while the remaining 0.1% must have it since it is the cutest and/or most useful thing ever. An antique is any used item that 99.9% of people will think is stupid, useless, and ugly; while the remaining 0.1% must have it since it is the cutest and/or most useful thing ever.
3) Always plan more activities to do than you have time for. Otherwise you end up sitting at the motel watching TV or driving around the countryside and calling it “sightseeing” (I did both).
4) I need satallite radio. The main style of radio stations between St. Louis and Monroe are locals sports, static, and country.
I posted pics from my trip to Seattle. Congrats to the new happy couple, Florence and Saj.
Congratulations to Shu, Kevin, Kelsey, Dhanushka, Peter, and everyone else who participated in and supported the St. Louis Marathon.
For more pics: of the marathon and a few days before.
