I posted pics from my trip to Montreal in September. I was in Montreal for the 2009 World Molecular Imaging Congress (work conference). I’ve now been to this meeting three years in a row.
Two years ago: Providence, Rhode Island
Last year: Nice, France
This year: Montreal, Quebec
Next year is in Kyoto, Japan. Here’s hoping for four in a row :D
An incredible article detailing the current issues facing the medical and scientific communities from a growing segment of the population who, because of fear and ignorance, are basing their beliefs on misinformation and only correlative data.
This is an actual paper from a team at the University of Ottawa, who have used the hypothetical situation of a zombie outbreak to examine some mathematical models for controlling the spread of infectious disease. Awesome. Check out the paper in its entirety here.
On September 2, 1859, the Earth witnessed the perfect solar storm. If anything on the same scale happened today, “the damage could range upwards of a $1 trillion, largely because of disruptions to the electrical grid.”
I did not know this. I’ve always listed things as zero, first, second…adjective • coming in a series before the first.
Zeroth is the ordinal number for zero, and it used in mathematics and computer science for the first item in a zero-based sequence (such as an array). Outside of math, zeroth is used to describe a law or principle that is formulated after the first, as in the zeroth law of thermodynamics.
“Commode Specimen Collection System”
This belongs to a friend who is participating in a scientific study. The finger belongs to Britney. She’s mad I beat her to taking a picture to post :)
